Geospatial Technologies includes Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and Remote Sensing.
These technology tools are ideal for helping students to develop critical thinking skills and spatial reasoning skills. While they can tremendously enhance the study of geography alone, these tools are also ideal for interdisciplinary projects that integrate math, science, social studies, and language arts.
Funding from the U.S. Department of Education allows us to offer training events for teachers, special student events, and ongoing support for all of K12 Hawaii to encourage the use of geospatial technologies.
